The URN:NBN Network was established in 2024 as a discussion forum for national libraries using the National Bibliography Number persistent identifier. The network aims to:
Enhance visibility and knowledge of URN:NBNs
Provide a peer support platform for URN:NBN providers
Work together for sustained use of URN:NBNs
Promote the use of URN:NBNs as a persistent identifier
URN:NBN providers wishing to join the network will find the relevant information on the contact page.
Organisations operating as URN:NBN providers may join the network as members.
While the network focuses on the use and visibility of URN:NBNs, URN providers of other namespaces are welcome to join the network as observers. Interested parties are also welcome to join the network’s mailing list.
The network meetings are run by a chair from a member organisation. The meeting agendas are also publicly available.
