National Library of Finland

The National Library of Finland first started issuing URN:NBNs in 1998. URN:NBN:FIs are assigned to digital publications and digital objects, and the identifier is in broad use amongst higher education organisations as well as public administration organisations. Finnish organisations can register a subnamespace with the National Library. The urn.fi resolver service launched in 2007 and is located at www.urn.fi; there is also a URN generator for issuing Finnish URN:NBNs, which have to be registered to become active.
